that was the proper way Inon tKD) to throw a hooking heel kick... a lost art and kick that I have not seen since my days of getting nailed witha nd nailing quite a few people with it... you don;t need to spin but you can... you bring theleg up like pee wee herman and at the very last second you tighten and buya!!!!

Ok the guy comes from Savate there are guys in karate who kick that way... it is not a spinning hook though. What it is is a mule kick . Now think when fighting with your legs you want to throw at angles unseen by your adversary. that kick is used if the guy moves to a sidewise position and you are at his flank after setting up for a fronral attack. You lift the leg like a dog on a hydrant and as he sets up for a back kick you simply extend and lock the heelk at the last second. You do not need to do the kick hard it is like getting a rock in the sock to the chops.
That video practiclly brought tears to my eyes as that was the most beautifulvariation of that kick I have ever seen. the angle, the lack of telepgraph, the conservation of energy.... when done right even a running man drops on contact, think about that!
Heres the thing I don't know what they do in Savate ( I have seen players who are not that good) but years and years of trying to get people to see tha angle necessary and the purity of execution how it effects a fight... then you see somoene execute it perfectly, as perfectly as Plato's Pythagorian triangle, wow!
YOu should all experience while you are young both nailing and getting nailed with that kick in a throwdown... The sensation is such, much like a really good choke where you are looking and thrn feel something gentle and then asking what happened? the kick when aimed at the eye socket, the heel hits the eye cavity (not the eye) and you are out on your feet. I have done it to many and felt it from sensei. When My sensei did it to me he did it slow motion and knocked me out.
edit: oh youcan target the eye socket (best) or the jaw. Either one hit properly and the effect is as given a s a choke. It is not a blunt force Ko that rattles the brain in your cage, it just... so hard to explain... try it !!!!Last edited by Dsimon3387; 10/12/2009 6:14pm at .

Looks to me like the savateur might have been friends with the greaser. He turned around just in time to see his friend lashing out at the prankster and had about one second to decide to drop the guy. Stripey savate dude probably thought the prankster was trying to escape after lifting his buddy's wallet or something.
Anyway, that was one hell of a kick.Check out the Bullshido.net Western Martial Arts Forum for all things Western, martial and arty.
