Shotokan Practitioner going mma,your opinion?

Thanks for the input,**** man.With me i have a bad habit of fucking up my stances,my correct strikes..All of this is taught to me in a very traditional school,and **** brother i don't no a lick of japanese,in which i'm spoken to when taught.lol.But some of these techniques just dont feel natural,i dont feel too mobile and my feet are planted on floor as if they were bricks,So yeah man..Those habits are all too familiar.

Point sparring, done full contact, gets you to read an opponent and be "elusiv" as Machida is.

On that note, don't do Shotokan.

The training is real emphasized on kata,and the sparring is light to no contact..I feel held back a bit in our sparring,cuz if my strikes were to land,my sparring partner would never get his strikes in to point..I'm sure of this..And hell,i sure in the hell ain't afraid of getting strikes landed on me..If i did get struck,i think one would learn from his mistakes alot quicker.

Point taken,and to be honest with you.The stuff you asked is exactly the **** i know for a fact are weak points in shotokan...Good looking out.

Crosstrain my man, crosstrain.....At least with Shotokan you have some form of a striking base all you can do now is improve.....Machida would have been Machida regardless of what he studied, i'd jump off those coat tails bud....

Are you saying that the likes of another shotokan guy coming out are unlikely?And i'm not on any coat tails,BUD.But i do admire traditional karate-do.Prior to shotokan,i was also training shou shu kung fu..What do you train?
