Are injuries common in taekyon competition?
I never saw anything serious. Mostly bruises and bloody noses. I got a mild concussion once, though.

Hello TNMP, I had a question for you. I'm going to Korea this summer for 3 months and I am planning to go to a Kyulyun Taekyon junsugwan. I was wondering if going to the 중앙 본부 전수관 (central junsugwan) would be more beneficial for the learning experience compared to going to the other junsugwans.

- It's been about four years since I trained in Korea, so YMMV -
If possible, go to the 중앙 전수관. When I went (at the old location), there were some really skilled people there. You'll also get a chance to talk and possibly train with 도기현. He's very approachable and unpretentious. Also, there really aren't that many kyulyun gyms to choose from compared to KTA ones. The only time I went to a local kyulyun place, it was all kids.
Unless it's moved again, the 중앙 전수관 is in a nice part of Seoul, with lots of 한옥.

this is my first posting, I guess. This video shows some "hard" Taekkyon techniques which are rarely shown in video clips, so maybe you like it. The term for "hard techniques" as a category is "yet beop", meaning "old methods".
The master who demonstrates them is Jang Taesik, a master of the Kyollyon Taekkyon Association. In this association, yetbeop has a bigger part than in the other ones.
I hope the link works. The youtube videos in this forum are not displayed in my browser, don't know why.
Go to minute 4:30.

Man. As a Korean native and someone who started martial arts in Korea, I had no idea those hard contact techniques existed. I like lots.

If the Hottest Girl In The World thread didn't exist this would be my favorite. Moar.

could be, but that sounds like here-say. This is the full contact KMA thread, not the full-frontal contact KMA thread :)
