    as far as conditioning the kempo is good. i wouldnt look to it as a resource for technique

    I did a round of P90X - as someone pointed out workouts are about an hour long, except yoga which about 90 minutes, plus if you do the "ab ripper" after some of the regular workouts you are adding another 25 minutes 3 times a week.

    So all said, you are basically doing old fashioned PT for 8 hours or more per week. It's good for strength endurance and cardiovascular effects. But then any complete program you do for that long per week for 90 days will have a positive effect on you.

    Honestly my biggest problem with it was that by doing P90X I had less time, and was tired and sore from P90x, to do really solid/difficult martial arts workouts.

    I'm pacing myself LOL. If I joined CrossFit now, I would publicly humiliate myself, as my cardio training has been neglected of late. I do my martial arts training one night per week, and that isn't a serious workout.
    If I do the P90X at home and then try CrossFit, it would be more like crawl, walk, run. Unless I am mistaken, and P90X is actually harder!?!

    I was thinking about doing the Insanity workout as a way to lose 8-10 & increase my endurance for Bjj comps. Not so much for getting stronger.

    Would this be good idea or should I just htfu and join Crossfit?

    Insanity, Crossfit, or your own made up intense circuit session can all smoke you and work on your endurance. If you need the community and competition of others to push yourself then go crossfit. If you can discipline yourself to work hard and push yourself, save the $125+ per month and do not do Crossfit.

    Best way to get endurance for BJJ is to do a lot of BJJ. Could money spent on crossfit provide you with a better BJJ learning experience and training if applied to that?

    i recomend insanity. as i stated earlier i have tried it for comps and found the results very beneficial.

    Yes, true, I should probably rephrase that to be "The best way for a newbie to get endurance in BJJ is to do a lot of BJJ" - but I agree with you, too much and too long at a high intensity can lead to injuries.
