I'm betting they parted ways after Elite folded and the money well dried up.

“I stopped training Kimbo. I had him six weeks before the last fight (a loss to Seth Petruzelli on October 4), I talked to him about certain things that I didn’t like, and he promised never to do it again, and then he started doing it again. If people come to me and ask me to train them, I want them to do what I tell them to do, because that’s what they came for. … Once you start doing different things, you’re out. It’s not because he got knocked out. This was already in progress long before the fight.”

“I would rather just leave it like this: Let’s say that the Kimbo who came to me at the beginning of training, that wasn’t the Kimbo who was at my gym the last time. Six weeks before his last fight, I told him, I want that Kimbo back. Otherwise, you’re out. And you know, he started doing differently again. Let’s just leave it like that. I don’t want to go into all the details. I wish him nothing but the best. Really, I really do.”

It's obvious why they didn't have to fight to get on the show - they're scraping the bottom of the barrel to find 16 unsigned heavyweights as it is; there's no way they could find 16 more without sinking to the depths of "too embarassing to even show on TUF"

    That's exactly my point.

To even get 16 heavies, they had to include Wes Sims. If they made everybody fight to get on the show, they'd need 32 heavies, which would mean they'd have to include 16 fighters less qualified than Wes Sims.

I would give so much to see Kimbo vs Sims. I hope that's the first fight, that would be hilarious.

I have not been following the career of Mr. Sims, all I know is that he's a real vet. How is his inclusion in the show so funny?

His past behavior has been, well... he was DQ'd for stomping a downed fighter in the head.

I'd bet money Kimbo doesn't fight first, or even second. Dana is gonna make it so they keep him involved in the show as LONG as possible.
