Can't wait to see him in his first fight against Yoshida, and it's awesome to have another heavyweight judoka start throwing people around.

Yoshida is a good first fight for him. I'm disappointed the guy isn't in the UFC, but he'll probably do better against a shallower talent pool in Sengoku.

Give us clinch battles, Yoshida and Ishii!

I'm glad to finally see a great judoka in his prime enter MMA. He's all of 22. Most judoka turned MMA'ers are too old and beat up after years of Judo competition (e.g. Pawel Nastula). And Yoshida decided he'd rather be fat than fight in his natural, lower weight class.

Yoshida is 40 y/o. He won his Olympic gold 17 years ago, at -78 kg. Since July 2, 2006, Yoshida has fought 5 times and lost 4 of those fights. His record stands at 8-7-1.

There is little glory here for Satoshi Ishii.

Japanese crowds will still eat it up. Yoshida is a national hero for being the first high-profile judoka to get some wins in MMA. It'll be a nice passing of the torch fight, provided Ishii's been training at all.

Yeah, hopefully Ishii will win this one, get 4-5 more wins in Sengoku and then make the move to the Strikeforce, pick up a few wins there, then move to the UFC. I'd love to see him tossing people on their heads against the best MMA can offer... I'll actually be really disappointed if he doesn't steamroll through most of his opponents outside in his first half dozen fights.
