    Thanks for all the recommendations, I'll be sure to check out as many of them as I can. As you guessed I wasn't really after 100% accurate depictions of WMA. After-all action films are, I suppose, generally a silly place to look for historical accuracy, and I admit I like of bit of chandelier swinging silliness in my sword-fights. :)

    Rob Roy, though they overplay the heaviness of the Scottish Broad Sword, is a very good depiction of swordplay. Kingdom of Heaven (though the longsword was not in common use during that period) has a decent training scene somewhat inspired by actual manuals. Braveheart was also fairly realistic as Hollywood goes. The fencing match in Kenneth Brannagh's Hamlet was good too, IIRC.

    You thought so?

    It looked awful to me from start to finish but maybe somebody with more experience and expertise than me should weigh in.
    Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
    and remember what peace there may be in silence.
    As far as possible, without surrender,
    be on good terms with all persons.
    Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
    and listen to others,
    even to the dull and ignorant;
    they too have their story.

    -excerpt of the poem called "Desiderata," by Max Ehrman, 1927.

    Timeline had a bit in it. I remember a scene in there in which the bad guy was sparring with another bad guy, and twirches him for the win.
