Nice fight. I liked your hands when you got technical.

What an awful ref. Is he from boxing? That's the only way I can see to explain his anti-clinch paranoia.

Most likely, either straight boxing or kickboxing. It's hard to find qualified refs and judges for these low amateur shows.

I don't think i did enough to win that 3rd fight, thank god for the round one 8 count swaying the judges' minds. Overall it's good experience though, you can't fight like a pro without looking like **** as an amateur first.

    First Kyokushin Tournament

I entered this competition knowing 100% that I’d loze the first fight. I ripped the muscle next to my left shinbone during Muay Thai training Thursday and wasn’t even able to walk on it until the morning of the competition.
If it was Muay Thai I would have pulled out straight away, but this is a new dojo to me and I would rather fight hopping on one leg than be labelled one of those guys who comes up with a convenient injury 2 days before their first comp.

You can hear my girlfriend yelling headkick because that was the decided game plan, I figured I might have 2 good kicks in my leg before it fell off so all I’d had to do is make them count.

The plan nearly worked perfectly, I scored the fastest wazari (half ippon) in the history of this state’s kyokushin. Unfortunately kicking him in the head hurt me more than it hurt him and he proceeded to body punch me for a counter wazari. I lost the fight due to injury I think, even wazari points split so it should have gone to another round but the ref noticed I wasn’t able to put weight on my leg so he called the judges in.

Even uninjured and 100% fit I wouldn’t have won this tournament, a Spanish guy punched through the guy who beat me like a wet paper bag.
