Crappler is right. The 14 year old hasn't been "jumped in" yet.

Once we gets a few love taps from the older guys, he'll become a puppy--or leave and study ninjerism somewhere.

I think it is ok for kids to practice full contact combat if they wear gear the first year. Just dont teach them dim mk until they're 21.

I have a 14 year old kid. He's basically here because he's a giant: 230# and about 6'3". I started with a kind of father-soft-spot for him but he's rly-fracking slow in the head. I think he's been left alone in front of a computer for far too long (moose!?!?) or he could be legitimately 'tarded IDK

Showed up in class the other day with his jacket on inside-out, "Dude! WTF!?!" The challenge has been if I can get him to learn something, my reasoning is that you get at least one crap-tastic lolcat per year and the other one is gone now so this is the replacement.

    He's actually learning...

Kids can be fun in a gym. Some body has to help them find their way in the world, god know that their parents don't want to do it. A few love taps to the head and a good kick to the stomach, generally makes them more amiable.

I began martial arts when I was twelve years old, and I took it seriously from the first minute, never disrespected the instructors, never questioned their instructions, etc. I should have, because it was Wing Chun, but at least I was a respectful kid and not an arrogant ****.

At BJJ there's a 14 year-old ************ who thinks he is the best thing since Fedor, and loves to tell everyone about it, despite the fact that he sucks. He's got balls though, and lots of potential.

Back in the days , if you did bullshit in the wrong dojo, you could get killed, even if you were a kid... But that's not wht made me serious about training. It was the will and the desire to learn, as good and fast as possible.
