Below is the transcript from the fight video. In it the victim is referred to as KFG or Kung Fu Guy. Feel free to edit if I missed something or misspelled a term. I will work on the black belt video tonight and tomorrow and should hope to have it completed by the end of the weekend. The transcript is also saved as a Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF. It is long but I left the spaces in for readability.

Blythe : And huh, he’s a master (points at k.f.g)

KFG: (nods head) inaudible but it was a confirmation

Blythe: You’re a master correct?

KFG: (inaudible, sound did not pick up what was said)

Blythe: You’re a what?

KFG: Shintokan priest

Blythe: Shindukan priest?

KFG: Shinto

Blythe: Shintokan(please correct, edit please all Japanese mistakes) priest…he’s a priest, yeah he’s a priest

Blythe: and uh…he’s here to teach you spiritual movements…..ok

Blythe: Trying to get your body and your mind (audio skip) together, right John?

Blythe: You’re willing to know that right? (faces off camera nods and appears to smile)

Blythe: and huh, like I say this gentleman is a master, huh he has no master

KFG: My master is Jesus Christ

Blythe: His master is Jesus Christ

Blythe: uh, and he got promoted by Jesus Christ, right?

KFG: Well

Blythe: To tenth degree red belt

KFG: (inaudible) tiger sir, the tiger is the symbol for Jesus Christ

KFG: (points at forearm) Here is the tiger (continues pointing at forearm)

Blythe: We’re all in here for knowledge, aren’t we(looks to Dennis)

Blythe: We’re all in here for knowledge, aren’t we gentlemen

Blythe: (points off screen) Thank you very much.

Dennis: Listen up ya’ll, sensei is talking to y’all

Blythe: Yeah, huh, this guy huh like I say is a priest is a tenth degree red belt and who did you say promoted you to tenth degree red belt?

KFG: Jesus Christ

Blythe: Jesus did

Blythe: Uh, ok, I know everyone of us would like to be taught be someone that has been taught by Jesus

Blythe: Correct John

John: Absolutely

Blythe: Because I can guarantee you that’s got to be some movements to behold, right

KFG: Well, I won’t brag or anything like that (could not make out)

Blythe: Ok, demonstrate on him

KFG: Well, I won’t demonstrate on him, I will demonstrate around him

Blythe: Go ahead and demonstrate around him

Blythe moves off screen

KFG: You can just stand there, do not make any movement whatsoever I will not touch you

KFG: Well, actually I..I think it would best maybe if perhaps if I just perform which is known in karate as kata

Blythe (off screen): We’re all interested in that aren’t we gentlemen

Students: Yes sir, yes sensei (faint and multiple voices)

KFG: Do you feel threatened?

KFG: I..I just wish to teach you, I don’t wish to hurt you

Dennis: Teach me

KFG: Well, what you must do, is to, just basically focus on the hands, your two hands and your two feet, stand straight…this way
(Blythe starts walking towards the back of the dojo as he walks past Dennis)

Dennis: Like this? (Dennis proceeds to give KFG a front kick immediately)

Dennis and KFG exchange blows

KFG: Don’t do that anymore

Dennis and KFG begins another exchange

KFG: No, just don’t do that

Dennis: kihaps after front kick

Off Camera (source unknown): Good

KFG: I’m not a fighter

Dennis and KFG begin another set of exchanges

KFG goes down

Dennis: (grunts) ************

KFG: You’re good

Dennis: Huh?

KFG: You’re good

Off Camera (source unknown): Don’t grab at his tie (inaudible) there

Off Camera (source unknown..woman): tv, tv

KFG: You got it ok, you got it, you got it

Off Camera (source unknown..woman): What you gonna do(audio breaks off)

Blythe: Ok, ok, boy that’s good, drag him out the back door

Blythe: Drag him out the back door

Blythe: Take that, get that uh, I want the sash

Dennis: Yeah, get my sash

Cut to next day

Blythe(off camera): What we have right here is the trail of the kung fu master…as he is departing my dojo

Blythe (off camera): This was taking on 13 December 1984, 7 p.m.

Blythe (off camera): And of course this is where he got drug out at

Blythe (off camera): Some of the blood on the backdoor.

This is inconsistent with Blythe's and the victim's behavior. Blythe introduced the victim as a priest who would be demonstrating spiritual movements allegedly taught by Jesus. He also responds affirmatively to the victim saying that he will "Not demonstrate ON him, but around him." And finally, the victim instructs Dennis not to make any movements and that he will not touch him, and that he only wishes to teach him. Blythe earlier says twice "We are all here for knowledge aren't we gentlemen?" further indicating that there would be a demonstration and not a match.

That he called for Mr Dennis to stop kicking him in the groin because he considered it an illegal blow (as it would be in knock-down Karate)

This makes sense but is not congruent with the victim's claim during the escalation: "I'm not a fighter!" which implies that he did not want to fight but to teach and demonstrate.

that Mr Dennis became enraged at some point, perhaps after being dropped by a kick

that Mr Dennis then escalated the conflict beyond the bounds of a Kyokushin style match by striking the head, and fighting on the ground

None of this excuses the deplorable last few seconds of the fight, but IMO it casts the conflict in a different light, and bears whether it was a set up, or a challenge match gone horribly wrong.

Dennis' body language and tonality indicated that he was anticipating combat from the very beginning of the video. He also sneak-attacked the victim while he was still giving instructions for what he (according to his body language) seems to have thought was going to be a demonstration. The idea that all parties knew that this was going to be a match is not congruent with the victim's, Dennis' and Blythe's behavior.

There was a guy on this thread earlier today who says he does professional video work. We talked about the possibility of addint the transcript as subtitles. Can you read back a bit and hock up with that dude?

Meaning that's the lowest temperature the victim would have been exposed to, if he was left in the dumpster all night. No precipitation, only fog.

For the transcript the victim appears to ask Dennis "What's your problem?" as Dennis raises the victim's foot up just before pushing him against the wall. You can't hear him say "problem" because the audio is edited. You can hear the woman begin to say something just before the audio is edited out. She may have used a curse word and it was edited out just as "fucker" was edited out earlier in the video.

Also Dennis says "Speak up, ya'll hear sensei talkin' to ya'll" not "Listen up...."

Are they certain? I looked on the street view for that location and didn't see any buildings that would match up and the one building that may be considered that address looks too old to be something that would replace the dojo.

I still think it was in the Dumfries Shopping Plaza. I'm pretty sure at least several of the clips from the Action Investigations piece was filmed there. The general look of the building fronts match up with the one shot in the piece where the three woman walk out of Blythe's studio I forget the exact time but its mid way through the video right after they are doing push ups. Has anyone been able to get better shots of the buildings in the plaza and maybe even out back?

War Wheel, can your source look at the street views of the two locations and tell us definitively? They are both on Fraley and numbers can get mixed up over the years.
