The highlight vid just shows that I was outclassed in my grappling by everyone that I rolled with. This video confirmed it. :-)

Thanks for rolling guys. I have to start working on my newaza a lot more.

That's some awesome feedback, guys. I'm really grateful you have eyes for these things; for instance I couldn't see (or feel) the crossing-the-feet thing I do.

    Thanks.

(right in my case) Another big issue with the footwork is you were crossing your feet like crazy. You would do okay when you would rush in to use your hands, but almost every other time they were crossing.

Additionally, you seemed to use either punches or kicks, you never mixed it up, which of course makes your strikes much easier to defend against. Don't be afraid to go to the body with your hands. Often flurries where you mix up high and low work especially good against larger opponents who have more area to cover up.

Another thing you want to think about is range, sometimes you were just chilling in my range and outside of your range. Thats where you never want to be. You want to minimize the time spent in that area. I can tell you understood this concept, and two minutes isn't really enough time to acclimate yourself, but it's something to keep in mind.
^^^ This is all excellent stuff.

This video is from awhile ago, and Domite has improved a great deal since then, but you can see JP using head movement and cover to protect himself while changing levels to work Domite's body:

    YouTube - JP vs Domite

The range thing is hard, and even experienced fighters can be caught out by extreme differences in reach. Randy Couture said after his loss to Brock Lesnar that the bigger man's reach was the decisive factor for which he had not adequately planned.

I'll have you know that I can't stop watching the damn highlight vid. I've watched the others too, they're great and all, but I think I've watched the highlight like thirty times.

    Sketchwork

My lovely ladyfriend was on hand, sans camera mais avec le sketch-book.

She did some gesture drawing of our rolling and hanging out, which I share with you out of pride, meaningless addition to the TD thread, and an attempt to be scholarly regarding artwork.
