Thread: NYC Throwdown Vids - 8/8/09
8/10/2009 6:17am, #21Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.
-excerpt of the poem called "Desiderata," by Max Ehrman, 1927.

Great highlight reel, Steve! You always come through with ace video chops.“Most people do not do, but take refuge in theory and talk, thinking that they will become good in this way” -- Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics, II.4

The best part of the highlights were the submissions! Did you guys do any mixed striking / submission matches?

No; the various rules I saw people spar under were: pure standup striking, san shou (striking plus takedowns), standing grappling to ground grappling, and ground grappling.What a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable. -Xenophon's Socrates

If only I was in NY one day earlier. Looks like you guys had lots of fun. Jealous a bit, I am.

Yes Serge, I had to give up World of Warcraft though to make room. Couldn't be everywhere :)
Also I had fun sparring too, thx for the opportunity Awkm :). Good luck on your tourney.

Do we have any still photos of us? I'm putting up a short review now on my Examiner page while I'm still riding high in the top five so more people will see it, and I have no thumbnail picture for the article.

That pic of me getting facepunched by the Domite Monster, in the beginning greyed-out montage, is beauterific and would be a fantabulous choice. How big a pic do you want, Lampa?What a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable. -Xenophon's Socrates
