The Wastrel - So attractive he HAS to be a woman.
- PizdoffNormally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog -

Actually, I'm on the same page as Omega. Why is it "Jeet Kune Do" is just Kali, BJJ, Muay Thai, Dumog and some trapping? It's like...get your own style, "no-styler"! -- The Wastrel
"The problem with BJJ is that it has no answer to the dim mak. If you combined bjj with dim mak, then it might not be a sport anymore, but until then, it's really just badminton with brazillians." -- KC ElbowsMonkey Ninjas! Attack! -

It applies to every Matthius100 post!

Boyd responds to someone telling me to take up Tai Chi to relax in Judo

My very first post on Bullshido was, indeed, this very question. And friend, I got a lot of answers just like the one above.
The best advice I can give you has naturally already been said. Take up Tai Chi. Sure, you'll go through an unbelievable amount of bullshit just to supplement one aspect of your Judo game that needs to be improved within an extremely limited timeframe, and sure, being relaxed while doing forms and being relaxed when someone twice your size is trying to hit you with an entire planet are two totally different things, but regardless, the message is simple: TAKE UP TAI CHI. -

My first sig, for posterity
Shumagorath: I'll be impressed when an Aikido demo shows and aikidoka defeating someone who actually wants to hit him.
shihonage: If you want a demo of (an) Aikidoka defeating someone who wants to hit him, maybe I should (post) my clip of Seagal's fight sequences from his early films. -

I'm retiring my old signature.
Martial arts history has shown that kicks were originally designed for horses. Back then if you had a calvary, ofcourse you would have the upper hand on the foot soldiers. So the foot soldiers came up with a way to knock the riders off of their horse during battle. The low kicks were designed to break the horses knee joint, which would make the horse go down and the rider would fall off. The high kicks were designed to break the riders leg, you can imagine trying to put preshure in a sturip with a broken leg....
