Okay, stupid question, but I have to ask it. What, exactly, do you guys mean with the word 'underrated'?

If you mean 'More effective than most people think', then definitely get Aikido the hell off that list. Aikido people are totally convinced that elderly Japanese aikidoka and Steven Seagal are the deadly creatures in the friggin' universe. Even worse, normal people are now starting to spread this bullshit. It's fairly nauseating.

If you mean 'Obscure and not really well know outside certain circles', then ix-nay on the injutsu-nay. Ninjas are right up there with Navy SEALs on the pop culture super-saturation hit parade. Is there really anyone on the Planet Earth who HAS NOT heard of ninjas and how unbelievably deadly and unstoppable they are? Christ, it almost enough to make you take up Aikido.

If you mean 'Mistakenly underestimated by people who should know better', then it's a fair question and well worth the debate. There have probably been a lot of ass-beating preceded with the quote "You're an advanced student in WHAT??".

he is quite right. essential lessons for training, especially for wanting to compete. and if I remember, FD is trying to get good enough to get in the ring.

For him, this is perfect advice.
