Good way to toughen you up though as the others have said, if you ever read this thread again, would you mind telling me how tall the guy was (and how tall you are)? Just to know.

Yesterday a polish San Da champion showed up to the club. He is at 90kg also. And I am very afraid of him. I am also trying to determine if this guy ever got paid to fight in Poland.. (is there a market there?) He is a nice guy but if I piss him off he will probably eat my babies.
I will post up videos of sparring when I get the chance.

Fair play to you Alex, I think it can be a good way to train. I bet returning to your own weight and experience seemed like a piece of piss.

my whole life ive been training with guys bigger than me (used to train in a tongan community) and it does definitely make a difference when you get hit by someone your own size in a fight and think "thats it?"
FTR- im 5'10, not sure how tall he is exactly- 6'3 or 6'4 i think.

Just a tip, when you stand south paw you drop your hand right before you throw your jab keep it up. Other than that good job, props for staying in after getting hit in the balls, were you wearing a cup? or was the cup not enough haha.

Solomon (pro-fighter in vid) has redefined for me what is sharp movement.
Had he not held back, you'd probably would have been out like a light at 0:25 and his eventual follow-up at 0:30.
F*ck -ing -uners who think that merely showing up to class and doing some drills and chi-sao gives them the magical ability to out-punch, out-pace and out-maneuver Solomon's experience/ability/skill level.
For what its worth, major props to go up against such opponents.

Your tough man, much respect. Reminds me of the time I went up against my coach. At least Soloman had the respect to fight you. My kru beat the piss out of me using almost exclusively his teep. That shits straight up embarrassing.

Top props Alex for uploading the vid....The experience gained from working with better athletes than oneself is invaluable...
Giving up what, 20 kilos and 3-5 inches, for practice, in itself is hardout....

Good job Alex. Props for going up against someone that much bigger than you and with that experience. Bigger guys are hard enough to spar on their own. It must be even worse when they are pro fighters.

Thanx Alex, great vid.
Like Kovacs said, training like this must work wonders for your endurance and pain limit when in your own weight cathegory.
I'd look pathetic facing this Solomon guy... You fought back and held on, respect.
