Karate ace routs robbers

By WILL BARKERFIVE armed robbers who tried to steal a karate expert’s £45,000 Rolex watch were routed when he fought back with a string of lightning blows.

The gang burst into the flat of John Phinikas after one arranged to view the watch he had advertised for sale in a newspaper.

The thieves pistol-whipped Mr Phinikas with a Beretta gun while his terrified wife and two young daughters were in the next room.Then they snatched the Rolex and threatened to shoot him.

But Mr Phinikas, of Kentish Town, North London, swung into action.He distracted one thug, grabbed his wrist and floored him with a blow to the forehead.

Then he spun round and belted another on the head.As Mrs Phinikas ran into the room screaming a robber pointed the pistol at her head, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

But her hubby grabbed his gun hand and twisted his wrist.Finally as the gang fled he smashed their car window with a flying kick.

Information Mr Phinikas gave to the police enabled them to quickly nab three of them.Yesterday Jamie Cummings, 18, of Tottenham, was caged for 10 years, Vivian Lambert-Morris, 18, got six years and a 16-year-old lad got seven years.

It might not be that farfetched.

After all, the guys he beat the hell out of were only aged 16-18; they were just kids. They probably couldn't fight worth a damn to begin with.

The Sun is not what would ever be described as a "quality" newspaper. Its not yet reached the depths of "Double Decker Bus Found On The Moon" (The Sunday Sport), but its not far behind. We don't have trailer trash in the UK, but if we did, this is what they would read. (Or get someone else to read for them)
