    BJ Penn's pool jump

YouTube - BJ Jumps out of the Pool

He can jump straight out of the pool and land on his feet without the use of his hands. What does this say about his leg strength?

I was hoping this would be a video of BJ Penn stepping into two buckets of quick drying cement... waiting five minutes then jumping into the deep end of a pool.

He used his hands plenty... just didn't touch the side of the pool with them.

Technically, he's using his arms too. To push down and propell out of the water.

    That's still damn impressive though.

I see it, but I still don't believe it. How is that possible?

I was going to say, "...there sure are a lot of dudes at that pool party..."

but what I was really thinking is how not only am I impressed but how much it would hurt if I tried to do the same thing.

A big part of it is his flexibility - it isn't that hard to get your torso that high up out of shallow water, the hard part is being able to get your feet up high enough to land on them like that.

I'm going to say that's some terrible pool safety. Doesn't he know how dangerous that is?

    Jeez.

He doesn't care man. He'll just keep going till he dies. That's how focused he is.

    Seriously, man. To the death.

I think I might try jumping in a pool to get a better idea how difficult this really is.
