Urgh. Neither the flier nor the website show the schedule for the events. Those of us not in the Kaju Clan would rather just visit to see the tournament, not the honorifics. I'll keep this bookmarked, though, in case updates arrive.

Knowing a little how the "Ohana" (family in Hawaiian) has operated in the past, I'd venture to say that the family is a tad disfunctional. Many great people, but also many great egos and baggage. So they might be working out the schedule - I read some Kaju site questions on type of sparring rules and such. You can check with Kajukenbocafe where Bishop and Tyrell and other guys that sometimes post here on BS post. I'd love to go as people as diverse as John Hackleman (Chuck's teacher), Eric Lee, Rick Alemany (of Waianae - the most Hawaiian place on O'ahu), Clarence "Luna" Emperado, Dechi Emperado (don't let her and Luna into the same room), Castro (ex of Waianae), and Thomas Mitose, are recognized as Kajukenbo masters and while I have no idea who is getting it together this year, it will sure be one educational time and plenty ono grinds at the luau.

Actually, that flier is not for the Las Vegas KSDI event that was held last weekend. The KOA event is being held as part of the Long Beach Internationals. The competition events will be part of the main tournament, along with all the karate/kenpo and grappling events.

Adriano Emperado, Peter Young Yil Choo, Joe Holck, Frank Ordonez and Clarence Chang were the founders. So in the picture, obviously Sijo, Adriano Emperado is seated. Is that Joe Holck in the middle and Frank Ordonez on the right? I met Frank at Prof. Clarence "Luna" Emperado's school on Punchbowl, but with out the wig he looked dif! Is that Chang or Choo on the left?
