    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Army bullies, any advice?

Well yesterday I finished MEPS, and was sworn in.

I'll be shipping out to Camp Robinson,Arkansas 20091208, for the GED+ program, and then after exodus I'll ship out to Fort Leonardwood, MO for OSUT (I'm going to be 31b).

Can anyone give me advice/stories about FT Leonardwood, or going 31b in general?

Anything would be great, I'm trying to absorb all I can!

well not army but i have been to camp lostinthewoods for my sisters graduation as a 31b and some of the stuff she said. few points she went during the fall. She complained they were picky as hell about sneakers. So if your not sure or better yet to be safe make sure you have an account with money on it so you can can buy some good ones from the PX.

I will try adn get her on or to send me an email with suggestions.

Good old Army Basic, I went through Ft Bliss in '88; good times.

Well first off congratulations, welcome to the Armed Forces.

    Secondly:

    1. You can expect early mornings - 4 a.m, and late evenings- 10 p.m
    2. you can expect bland food
    3. you can expect a **** ton of p.t (physical training)
    4. you can expect a HUGE culture shock
    5. you can expect meeting people from every race, religin, creed, and background you could ever possibly imagine.
    6. you can expect that TEAMWORK will be drilled into your skull from day one and throughout basic. there are NO individuals
    7. you can expect to be intimidated
    8. you can expect to be homesick
    9. you can expect a plethora of yelling, although I hear thats calmed down somewhat these last few years
    10. you can expect to be tired
    11. you can expect that the nail that sticks out will be hammered down, metaphorically speaking of course
    12. you can expect to have to remember a **** load of information
    13. you can expect that your entire platoon will be as big of a group of unorganized dumb asses as possible at first
    14. you can expect to be VERY busy
    15. you can expect alot of shots and dental work
    16. you can expect that you will learn a vocabulary that is unique to the Armed Forces
    17. you can expect that you will do a TON of marching
    18. you can expect that you will required to perform and put out 110% effort
    19. you can expect that eventually your platoon will begin to work together
    20. you can expect a feeling of PRIDE and ACCOMPLISHMENT like you have never felt before in your entire life when you dress up in your Class A uniform for graduation

    Best of luck to you and one last thing;

Ask your Drill Sergant when you get there for the PR1K E8 (pronounced prick)

    trust me...........

also make sure that you ask to fill out the I-D 10-T forms. otherwise you wont get any good leadership positions in boot.

Ooooh, Leonard Wood. I HATED that place. Hot, humid, oh and look out for the brown recluse spiders on the FTX.

    Good luck!

If you're really feeling ballsy and want to show your leadership initiative, volunteer to be the one to test the shocks on the M1 Abrams tank.

Also don't forget to ask for your box of grid squares when you start land navigation.

When you go to the motor pool every now and then you need to get exhaust samples from the Hummers, this isn't unusual. When you're done with your OSUT and get to your unit, whenever you do a road march, be sure to fill your ruck with gummy bears instead of gear. It makes everyone happy.

    uhm....

I forgot to mention, I have lurked here for a while beforehand, and most of the jokes I kinda already know about...

So could all replies be at least semi-serious in nature?

What, no testing the Bradley armor for soft spots?

    Okay, okay...

AMF nailed it pretty well. I'd only reinforce the idea of keeping your eyes and ears open, your mouth shut and listen to your Drill Sergeants. You'll do fine.
