My only thought besides for the obvious of how that could be bad is that lots of gangbangers and drug dealers are complete idiots in the sense that they are apparently completely unable to think about the future. Maybe if some of them had to apply themselves to some kind of discipline or training it would end up making them better people in some way.

    Announcer Man:
"Hmmm.... Red Elvis is starting to sweat now and the pressure is really on. Does he take the 'Bump Fire' category for $500 or the 'Semi-auto' for only $100? This is the last tactic of the day and could mean life or death! Also, the daily double comes with a Hooter Girl for a night and could be in either category!"

    Red Elvis:
"I'm gonna have to stick with semi-auto here Bob... that bump fire stuff looks like shenanigans to me."

    Announcer Man:
"Ohhhh.... You played it safe Red but you missed the daily double!!!" :jerk:

You hit the nail on the head and that's why t3h goblins are so dangerous... They are focusing on their next score of drugs or street cred or ________ and don't really care about anything or anyone else nor do they have rules.

This places us and LEO's in particular in a crappy position. LEO's for example are bound by laws and regulations to placate the well to do people in society that have no f-en clue about real violence which gives an advantage to the **** heads. When the LEO then responds with the force necessary to quickly and safely end the situation he is second guessed and arm chair quarter backed to death.

This also brings us back around to the asshats that tell us we can't arm and defend ourselves with a bunch of BS laws.

Well look at it this way. The people who make the laws are so rich they can afford to live in areas where there is seriously low to no crime. Living there they see no need for certain guns and legislate against them. Not out of a sense of vindictiveness just out of naivety of the world outside their own. Then you have military, leo and people who live in shitholes that see a need for certain guns and try to get support for them. Then you have folks like me of the opinion that access to SOME or even MOST firearms is fine but unrestricted access to ALL is illogical.

Out of curiosity since the argument that criminals get their weapons illegally is a big defense to gun control, can any LEO's give any data on where these illegally obtained weapons originate? Like are they mostly stolen en rout from manufacturer to gun store? Are they mostly stolen from private homes? Are they brought in from outside the country because they are otherwise unavailable in america ie Tec9 pistol etc? If they are illegally obtained from otherwise legal sources than I can see where pro gun control folks see bans logically working even if they don't work in practice.

There is some research that points to a small minority of gun dealers being the source of a disproportionate number of "crime guns". How that compares to the percentage that come from theft or whatever I couldn't tell you.

Fundamentally though, gun control is among the least efficient means of crime control out there. It's what you do instead of addressing the root issue.

There is talk of going back to 7.62 nato for infantry in some roles. I read an article yeterday.

HERE'S a first glimpse of the Sharpshooter assault rifle, the awesome new weapon for fighting the Taliban.
Hundreds of the highly-accurate semi-automatics will soon be shipped to British troops on the Afghanistan frontline.

The bad news for the Taliban fanatics is that they fire highly-damaging 7.62mm rounds over long distances.

The enemy had twigged the "effective" range of Our Boys' existing 5.56mm-round firing SA 80s rifles was only 300metres.

The insurgents started shooting from further away with their more powerful but less accurate Russian-made AK rifles. It meant soldiers had to move closer to return fire - over ground which had been booby-trapped with mines. It is hoped Sharpshooters will take away that danger.

More than 400 are being purchased as part of a £1.5million "urgent operational requirement". Defence Minister Quentin Davies said the Sharpshooter was the "best kit available".

An Army spokesman said: "The Sharpshooter is very capable and has been bought to fulfil a specific role on the frontline in Afghanistan.

"Army units deployed there are very keen to get their hands on it." The Ministry of Defence said it was the first new infantry combat rifle in two decades.

Add to that a very small percentage that come from gun shows. If I recall correctly the FBI places it at less than 1% yet everybody wants to cancel gun shows and jumps on the non-existent 'gun show loophole'.

They want to win the battle by eroding one thing at a time and frankly they are making traction. My state is becoming ridiculous as I will soon be required to provide a thumb print, and fill out a form with info from my license including my name, address etc. when buying a box of ammo. Additionally, I will only be allowed 50 pistol rounds per month. Now they wanna add ballistic fingerprinting...

I had heard about initializing ammo or something like that. Is that the same thing as ballistic fingerprinting? It sounds logistically impossible if it is as involved as it seems. Maybe that is part of creating jobs? More process' means more bureaucracy which means more jobs? Again I am with you in that 50 rounds a month as a limit and ammo limits in general are dumb but again from the perspective of the sheltered rich law maker what do you need more than 50 bullets a month for if you are just defending your home? Again I don't agree with it but looking at it from a devil's advocate perspective.

Wait, so the guys with AKs realized they actually had a longer effective range than the guys with expensive NATO 5.56 rifles that cost like 5 times the price of those AKs? Holy lol.
