Just on the fake asian sounding name and arts that really don't exist makes it Bullshido. They may be the greatest MArtist the world has seen but I severly doubt it. DM and others report back on what you find out about these guys.

Each of you that can go. . .pleae take the free class, and sit through the interview. Have your "fake persona, goals, and reasonable requests" already figured out before hand.
Use the time to assess the place, the instructor(s), the curriculum, and their McDojo status.
$50+ an hour for private, one-to-one lessons isn't expensive.

Report back your findings. . .facts, impressions, then whatever else you thought.

I am not sure how I am going to do this, I will just take the free class and report back to you guys, alternatively if someone has a better plan (short of challenging the master to a death match) I am prepared to listen to that.

I've just had a skim through the website. Grand Master Chusan is actually called Pete Delane. As part of your free lesson, you have to sit through an introductory message from Grand Master Chusan. You then get to have a chat with a human about what you want to acheive.
They also recommend 1 hours training per week. The private lessons are actually small groups.

As the school has grown in the UK our standards have been consistantly raised. We have shunned the commercialism rampant in martial arts in the West, in favour of the spirit of excellence. Consequently we believe we offer the best tuition available anywhere in the world.

Go in, ask about the free lesson. When asked, say that you're disenchanted by the kickboxing as it fosters a competetive and aggressive atmosphere. You're also intrigued by the idea of small class sizes (make up some crap about feeling ignored by your coach, because he only concentrates on those fighting in matches).

Hi, i live in Nottingham and train once a week 1 to 1 with my sensei in the Bushido academy of martial arts.
All that ive seen up there is BULLSHIT, a quick history lesson on our master. Pete Delane trained with a Japanese samurai master of whom i forgot the name (im ashamed...). Then with the help of his master Pete Delane founded his own style and thus opened his own Dojo, his first students would be Master Shugosan and Sentosen which under Grand Master Chusan are the highest ranking members of our academy. Our academy is focused on the way of the samurai and we go by the codes of Bushido itself including Chugi, Yugi and Makeseru, our styles include Bushido-Karate, Aikido-Te, Modern Zen and Ken-Kai-Ryuu (short for "the way of the japanese sword), we also train with various weapons including Bo-Staff, Short Staff and Nunchaku. Now as for the prices, whoever told you that must be warped in his own world, i pay £10 for an hour and thats a 1 on 1 lesson (just you and your sensei), you can also pay i think its £5-£6 pound an hour for group lessons. We do have an intense training regime meaning that an hour a week is really all you need, i bought i wooden bokken to practice a little at home with and i can see my own improvment every week. Now as for "striking" an attacker from the other side of a room? Bullshit my sensei has never came out with something so proposterous, everything my sensei tells me is sense, as clear as fresh water in a crystal glass. As a "Samurai in training" zen is also a big part of our style and isnt just bullshit, it comes into play with modern life and the perfect quote id like to give to our academy would be "We are warriors in whom, the old ways have joined the new".
Also for the count we dont see blue belts in our academy beating brown belts at all, they get thrashed. Its taken me 2 years to aqquire green belt and ive amazed my sensei, he says hes never seen anyone climb so high so quick, we dont see white belts at the start of the year graduating to black belt by the end of the year, its just plain stupid to even think that about our academy. Lastly about that not allowed to train in other styles is true, we are not allowed to train in dojos that are not ours, makes sense to me, they dont want to lose money to other places, not that we would anyway. Either way, i wish you all luck in your own stlyes and have a quote i made on my own, "The student is already a work of art, yet, the student is a work of art in the making"
