    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    out of shape officers:(

It makes me upset when I see fellow officers that are grossly out of shape. It is a huge safety issue! I dont think anyone expects the average officer to be an olympic level athlete, or an elite combat sports champion, But c'mon! A basic level of fitness and competency is not too much to ask!

Yes, agencies are too timid for alive training, and re-certification are a few time a year, but how about seeking training on your own.

I train hard, because I got kids too make it home too, and so does my partner, I may not be the best, but I sure want to be the best that I can be.

When I see an officer that is so outshape that he is out of breath before he makes it to the squad car, I get mad because he is not only putting himself in danger, but me as well.

sorry for the rant, I feel better now:)

Don't know about the situation where you are, but the members whose beat is the nightclub-district where I work have been showing up in better shape than was the case in the past. Mind you, that might be because almost all of them are in their twenties and, thus, may not have enough seniority to avoid that particular assignment...

Different force but same sentiments :

When I'm on base and see fat fucking twats in uniform I am COMPELLED to shout abuse - Many of these LAZY FAT TWATS wouldn't last five minutes in the desert yet funnily enough; come airshow weekend I'll bet a penny to a pound they'll be swanning around in their XXL deserts combats. CUNTS !

Ok, so we have a problem...

Suggest a solution. What policies, or programs, incentives, or penalties do you feel your department (MC) or service (MJ) should implement to make sure people stay in shape?
I do not aspire to be great, or even good, I hope to suck a little less then last class.

Maybe against a 5.56 round, but I doubt it would stop a 7.62 round.

I feel the same about the principal at my son's expensive school. Fat bastard. What kind of example is that setting?

    Greetings.

IMO departments need to have fitness bonuses.

1st, all departments need to provide officers working 10-12 hour shifts 1 hour of time per shift to go to the department range or gym where the officers are not subject to handling bullshit (obviously still subject to handling real police work).

Then, the departments need to have a bi-annual or yearly fitness assessment for all officers seeking to qualify for their fitness bonus money. The requirements should be whatever the requirements are to enter the academy in the first place.

Officers who can't complete certain events due to on the job injuries (guy fucked up his leg in a crash and can't run very fast now, fucked up a shoulder and can't do pushups, etc) can request to have those events dropped from their fitness regiments or replaced by other events at the discretion of the training staff (i.e. stationary bike or elliptical instead of running).
