everybody I know just calls it a short choke. Never heard it called the severn. His fights always bored me to tears. Ultimate Ultimate anyone?

No, that is not his Mom, it was his manager at the time.
I submit that his fights for UFC 5, the only one we worked with him with, were very exciting; two wins by submission one by ref stoppage.
I don't care what people call it; but it is called "a Severn" many places, including on the Ultimate fighter. -

Coach,
I've been having success switching between the "traditional" RNC, and the "short" choke. A problem I've been having, however, is them pulling down the "choking" arm long enough to get their chin down. Due to massive squeezing power I clamp down and get the tap, but its dirty, unkind and painful to both parties involved.
Do you have any tips, in regards to getting past the chin? Which do you prefer, the figure four grip, or the lebell grip version of the RNC?
