Practicing medicine with credentials you thought were real, but aren't is still malpractice. Its the individual claiming rank that has the responsibility to earn actual rank.

Getting "taken" might generate some sympathy for him, but really... its like saying you thought your fake ID was a real licence because the lady who gave you your "driving test" had a genuine clipboard and a large coffee from Dunkin Donuts. Tell it to the Judge.

Edit: You realize his story only makes sense if he was awarded a .jpg file instead of an actual certificate, right.

Actually that last part slipped past me, its early.....

See, years ago, I got took by Juko-lie. It took me about a year to realize they were full of crap; and I spent years cleaning up my name. I tend to be a bit too trusting and understanding when I think others might be going through the same thing.

I am STILL, VERY embarrassed by the "world champion" thing, even though it was an honest error on my part; it was still an error.

So, perhaps I am projecting, sorry.

Just in case anyone hasn't had their morning coffee yet, the point being made is that were mr morton to have received a (fraudulent but physical) certificate, and then scanned it, it would have been impossible to detect the traces of photoshopping found in the image he supplied. The fraud is in the image itself. He wants us to believe he was duped into believing he recieved rank from a legitemate source, and that he either

(a) Received a physical certificate altered by someone else (which is demonstrably false)

or

(b) He thought he had recieved legitimate rank from someone who provided him, not with a certificate, but a picture of a certificate.

Which is it? Liar or moron?

I am reminded of an ancient poem from Feudal Japan:

Not only that, but every one of these credentials show signs of photoshopping. Take a look at the Kodokan card -- the rectangle around his name is a different shade than the rest of the card, and the text in that area is in focus while the rest of the card shows signs of scanning -- bad photoshop.

Damnit! I never would have put out if I knew that Sushi Chef gave these cards to all his "girls"!

Edit: It's interesting that the initial feature that raised eyebrows (ie: the different color rectangle) turns out to be an unedited feature of the image. The deletions/insertions are within the rectangle.

and here is the same image processed in the exact same manner as above:

As you can see, photographic images of actual documents do not have these types of simplistic anamolies hiding in them.

What they do contain is organic, unpredicable features like the subtle bending of the card at the corners. This type of processing is very good at bringing out details like that.
