For the record, our concerns with his military claims have evolved as follows:

Beginning: His military seems legit, let's leave it be.
Into: Military seems legit, but certain facts seem embellished (helicopter crash story)
Into: Military may be false, helicopter crash info contradicts itself
Into: See above, but now add questions regarding judo training in military
Into: Military seems legit, arguably only thing not embellished
Into: Then again...yeah it may have been embellished to.

    Just for those keeping score...

i firmly believe that matt morton was a USMC lance corporal in field artillery, honorably discharged after serving 4 years.

i am willing to believe that matt morton received BJJ and judo training in seminar form while in the marine corps.

anything else surrounding his military history is subject to scrutiny at this point.

I'm still shocked someone would be dumb enough to fake a Torrance Certificate with Carlson's name. That's like presenting your "Official Stormtrooper of the Empire" card signed by Obi-Wan Kenobi.

don't forget, it wasn't even a forged signature. the signature was printed on the cert as part of the jpeg.

if i were going to forge a cert, i would use a much more convincing method of forging the signature. i wont post the step by step here, but it isn't that hard if you have patience and 2 cents worth of ingenuity.

Still that implies he lied about a few things. I mean, we can play word games but, exaggeration is a form of lying as is embellishment IMO.

Yes, there are worse lies, Thing is, coupled with everything going on, we are being cautious. I believe he is military but, his appeal to authority is crap. Basically, he said don't question, talk, or engage me unless you have done these acts.

If these claims are lies it destroys all of his protestations in this thread.

im no military expert but it seems unlikely to me that they let a guy on ' since he's ready to go' that way an army wouldnt be able to keep track of who's awol or who's mia.

besides how do you explain a fatality when the dead guy wasnt where he's supposed to be?

    doesnt make sense one bit.

    No, that part is plausible.

Its the same stuff you guys are talking about. Students have been in forums and have seen Matt's claims and have asked question. I have been at a tournament before and was standing beside some students in Matt's dad's class and someone asked them how Matt could be promoting in Hapkido if he had two bad legs. Things like that. We don't have a watch-dog group. We put assumption in that if his head-insructor is letting him teach Judo then he must have been checked out. We still question though.
