The last two photo's are actually one, I couldn't fit the whole thing on one print screen. It appears on page 50 of the book that Amazon is selling.

So the two obvious questions that come to mind. Where does Morton state he is in those photographs, specifically? Is there anyone that we can verify for a fact that was on the rescue team who can corroborate Morton's version of the story?

Looked through some of the text in the book, it says he was rescued by one of the units of the 24th MEU, which is approximately Regiment in size. The unit that did the rescue was a TRAP team (Tactical Recovery Aircraft and Personnel) of 42 people. He says elsewhere that a total of 61 people participated in the recovery.

So does the DS 214 that Morton supplied indicate he was assigned to this unit?

I was just looking at that -- it only shows the last unit to which he was assigned, which is not this one. (It's on page one of the Morton Doc's thread)

in the last pic supplied by joecos, i see at least 3 people that could be morton. but then again, there is one guy in the front row who looks a lot like me without glasses and a clean shave.

amazing what fuzzy black and white pics can look like!

    24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Online?

it was a TRAP (tactical retrieval of aircraft and personnel) team that did the recovering. Morton's DD-214 indicates he was artillery.

Why would they have artillery on a TRAP team?

All the photos in the books, are grouped together, about 1/4 a way through the book.

Here is one statement that Morton made re the O'Grady incident. There is another, but I haven't found it yet.
