Awesome. Maybe we'll have an Africa Throwdown. I don't think we've had one on that continent yet.

    Hi Sapateiro,

Thanks for the note. We've actually exchanged emails before as I was inquiring about the South African Nationals. Unfortunately, August 1 is too soon already and I can't make the trip this year. But it would be really appreciated if you can post updates of tournaments in Cape Town. I got to see your website and your club looks really awesome. I would very much like to visit Cape Town soon and compete and train with you guys.

    Thanks again!

Best of luck and I think that this is an awesome endeavor! Spreading the gospel of BJJ and Judo Worldwide.

Out of curiosity... you mentioned that Ghanians (I think that is the correct term) aren't used to grappling arts. What are the popular martial arts in Ghana?

Actually, I'm from the Philippines. But my students will be the pioneering
Ghanaians for BJJ. So far, after a couple of months I have an average of 10 people per class. Training has been good and people are students are in high spirits. Thanks for the well wishes!

If you talk about fighting here, people automatically will think boxing. Ossie Duran is Ghanaian. I practice judo with the Ghanaian contingent here and I've met a few shotokan karate guys and there is one kickboxing instructor in the city. So far thats what I've found here.

    Thanks for the well wishes!

Don't they have some kind of native grappling art, like in many (African) countries? You know, the ones played during feasts and on markets?
