Dana White went on to say Crocop refused all of his suggested fighters, going with Al Turk instead of Cain Velasquez or someone similar.

It looks like he just wanted another win in the UFC before taking it easy in Japan.

Dammit. Just last night I was telling everyone who would listen that Crocop was going to be UFC champion one day.

I don't care whether or not he broke Dana White's poor widdle heart, I care that he said in a few interviews before the Al Turk fight that he was ready to make a UFC title run, only to jump ship after 1 mediocre fight.

Really? When's the last time a fighter tested positive in PRIDE, K1 (mma), DREAM or Sengoku competition? I've never read a story about that happening ever.

Ah, I missed that interview. I assume that White is still the only source for the can-hunting allegation (although I find it plausible: going back to Japan with a UFC win would help his marketability).

Oh, I'm sorry: I had no idea Cro Cop was planning to travel back to a time when tests weren't done in Japan. I thought he was planning to fight there sometime in the future. My bad.

(Yes, tests are now done there. Even if you haven't lived there--or have a wife who knows the sports scene there--google is your friend...even their holy of sporting holies, Sumo, is subject to testing.)
