    No-BS Calorie Counter

    I've been on FitDay for months now, I like it, it works. But they charge for their premium software, and frankly I think I can do better.

    So, what I'm proposing is a Bullshido Diet aid. No short cuts, no crap, just a straightforward application to help the Bullies get in shape.

    I'm envisioning an application that would allow you to enter foods, and construct recipes, track your weight, calorie consumption, and exercise. However, I want to add some bells and whistles. I want to make it so you can easily share foods, and recipes. So, if a Bully has a great recipe that he/she thinks would be a great addition he/she could upload the recipe and other Bullies could import it into their copy of the software.

    Eventually I'd like to be able to report on, and track, the use of the software to the community, see who is using the software, and loosing the weight.

    Is this something you, my fellow Bullies, would find useful? Is there anything else you would like to see this software do? Would you be willing to help test it?

    Sounds great. I used fitday for ages but got bored of having to invent foods that I ate all the time and it didn't recognize. How could it not have a decent, practical measure for pasta, let alone all those crazy British foods I love - bananas and custard anyone?

    I'd definitely use it.

    It will probably be awhile before I can get a working prototype up and running, but I'll keep posting in this thread as things progress.

    build it on an eclipse framework and I can do some wonders with reporting and analysis.

    additionally, make sure it can be ported to an iPhone app.

    I have their premium software and I would return it if I could - it is EXACTLY their internet software but it doesn't log you out and a couple extra reports.
    There's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you. I've gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain. I will use my mistakes against you. There's no other choice.

    I currently use DietPower ( http://www.dietpower.com/ ) which is a good tool but is really geared toward losing large amounts of fat. It serves me well to track nutrition and calories. Here's what I dont like about it:

    It reports your metabolic rate based on calories eaten, calories burned, and weight that you have logged. The only problem is that it assumes (my guess) that everything is fat loss/gain (3500 calories per pound). A tool more geared toward athletes would, in my opinion, allow you to also enter your body fat percentage, and would calculate and report metabolic rate based on both fat AND muscle weight gain/loss.

    The reason that an accurate metabolic rate reporting is important is, of course, because its the bar you use when trying to cut or gain.

    Id be glad to test anything you come up with. Good luck.
