A nice side mount attack from The Man, Rob Kahn!
Rob Kahn showing off some nice side mount attacks.
crap! might have posted this in the wrong section.... (Sorry)
i'm watching this at work without the sound on, so maybe there is something i missed.
not sure i like how he lifts that leg over for the armbar, seems like it would make it pretty easy for his opponent to do the last resort escape. for a split second there is no pinching of the knees and no pressure with the right leg on the body at all.
i've never heard of rob, who is he?
Rob Khan is a Royce Gracie Black Belt and head instructor at the Gracie Tampa Academy a Royce Gracie affiliate. Rob has been training with Royce for over 10 years. He has competed very actively in Grappling and Jiu-Jitsu tournaments.

He talks about keeping positive pressure with the knee of the tucked leg. If the other foot is in the armpit, like he demonstrates, and you are tight to the shoulder with a good grip on his inside elbow, the last resort escape will not work.

well dang. i'm going to try it.
but first i'll watch it properly when i get home tonight.
I really like this, my arm & shoulder attacks are rather weak.
Minor point but is there a good reason on the armbar to reset the bottom leg to over their torso? Why not just keep the shin tight to their side?
My instructor usually has varied reasons for doing so (or not) and I'm curious why you would or wouldn't here.
Great thread, front paged.
Rob is also WingchunX2Z's BJJ instructor I believe. How you can be training with that kind of awesome and still be committed to the chun I have no idea....
If you spiderweb the legs I dont see any added benefit to putting the leg over the body. This is a great principle that can be applied from so many different angles!
