Googling yarichin-do throws up the Urban Dictionary entry for yarichin as the second hit. I could also imagine that this thread is going to be pretty high on the list in a few days.

OK, as to Wally Jay and Gene LeBell.

They do NOT know these people. They send them these ranks, and they throw them away or think they are honorarium and ignore it. They did not know people were using their names to promote their groups.

    They highly frown on that....

It appears that the subject of your thread was teaching at SHAPE.

This may ring a few bells of the James Shortt timbre ?

When I read these CVs (such as the linkie) they often begin with a nonspecific few years during which during some military or merchant navy service the subject trained with (or was "Introduced to" martial arts by) apparently specially talented people. They then emerge Kwai Chang Cain style into the wider world to achieve black belt in no time flat and then to train under various masters accumulating higher black belt ranks (and the occasional first aid cert).

D Reserve mentioned in the CV is NOT serving military. It refers to the period after military service that one is liable for recall to the Army if war breaks out. D Reserve is for those who volunteer that the recall commitment extends to age 55. Nothing special and of course not paid and involving no service. Hence he was NOT serving military when he attended SHAPE to encounter Herr Bodekker.
