vinhthekid takes on the continental united states: or 2009, a bus odd-yssey
so... i've recently graduated from college and have big big life decisions in front of me as well as a bunch of BIG IDEAS i need to think about...
so what better way to deal than by trekking across the continental united states by bus, by hitchiking and by general walking.
i will be leaving new york city at the end of june and will be in california at the end of july.
along the way, i intend to see as many sites and states as i can.
but... considering the shittiness of the economy and the fact that i just graduated and i know almost no one in most of the country...
i was hoping bullshido members would be willing to either host me for a night or two as i pass on by your neck of the woods or to show me around when i reach the same.
and... i would love love love to be able to train in different gyms across the united states as i journey, so having someone who could introduce me to a school and/or allow me to use a shower/laundry machine would be fucking AWeRSOME!
oh and suggestions as to things i should see, places i should go, or restaurants i should go to, things i should bring...
in general, any words of advice, wisdom or whatever would be appreciated.
If you head to P'cola Florida or close by, you can crash with me. You can use my washer and dryer, and we will roll! Let me know!! Sounds like a cool trip.
If you decide to come as far south as Austin, I'll put you up, bring you with me to the dojo and take you out to dinner.
I drove from Dallas to Fairbanks, Ak many years ago after I graduated high school. It was one of the funnest trips I ever took.
thanks guys! you have both just been added to my itinerary.
diesel... this sounds kinda stupid, but is there anywhere i can wrestle an alligator near you?
Like I said on facebook. If you're up near Fresno, ca. I'll put you up for a few days, take you to the Dojo, etc.
I owe you that much for doing the same for me in NYC. :)
I'm not sure about gators here in P'cola, however, if you take I-10 from here towards Texas then Louisiana will on the way. There is some good gator places there. I know there is a good place in Louisiana to roll, and I think one of the Judo coaches teaches there (Coach Josh I think?)
There are bullies in Atlanta too! If people step up, I think you could be covered all over the place! Should be a really cool trip. Are you going to document with pics?
Yeah, put up a training blog to keep track!
w/pics, of course. . .
I did one of these trips, actually two,
'cause I went to college in AZ. . .went
through tx, la, over to fl, ga, va, ky, all
the way to maine, then, across the great
lakes area to montana, and over the top
of the usa map to wa, down to cali.
40+ states in one, long-a$$ trip.
i'll be blogging the entire trip. a post per day, posted up whenever i have internet access.
it's going to be an artistic project in addition to everything else.
sirc, i just added you to my itinerary, thanks!
diesel, if you could recommend a place, that'd be awesome. i just REALLLY wanta wrestle an alligator somewhere along my trip.
meex, do you have any advice?

3. Training along the way IS AWESOME! (lucky bastard!)
4. Plan well. . .especially with the potential to meet up
with 100s of Bullies from across the country & play!
5. Most Importantly. . .stay safe!
(I'd offer you my couch, meals, and a few places to train,
but, you left my neck of the woods out of your itinerary!)
if possible, find a travel buddy!
