- gloves (4oz for MMA, 14oz for MT)
- boxing headgear
- a gi if you roll
Throwdown fists qualifications
Throwdown fists can still be earned for the people who are interested in them.
You have to stand your ground in a hard-contact MMA-ruleset fight:
- the MMA ruleset will be that of the UFC (I will post this later to raise the thread again, or if someone else has them they can post them also, but not today please)
- hard-contact =/= full-contact (consider it as a realistic preparation fight at your gym and NOT as a Gong Sau)
- Stand your ground (=/= winning, just show that you are a decent fighter, not fooder, but winning is an option so try to)
- protective gear: * minimum: cup, mouthpiece, gloves
- protective gear: * can be added: shinpads, headgear (boxing headgear, no Daido Juku spacehelmets please)
How to get there by train
Brussel - Leuven: one-way-ticket train 2nd class is 4.80€.
Best is to buy a one-way-ticket from Brussels to Leuven and the second day when you return you buy an one-way-ticket to Brussels, because a two-way-ticket is exactly the double, but you have to use it on the same day.
Train from Brussels to Leuven is easy: there are 3 stations in Brussel, South, Central and North. Get on a train in one of these stations, once you have passed the 3 Brussels stations, the next one is Leuven (takes about 22 à 26 minutes).
For train tickets: on the week-ends you can get a week-end ticket which you can use from Friday 19:00 'till Sunday 23:59 (to and fro) and which costs about as normal one-way fare.
Lodgings / Leuven
Directly over the station:
The hotel is Mille Colones: http://www.leuven.be/showpage.asp?iPageID=1420

The real deadly:
Testing the waters,
I've been thinking about organizing a throwdown on the old continent. Toying with the idea of an Euro Mega TD, because let's be frank, a Belgian TD would only consist of me, Geijhan (a.k.a Otaku Waffle) and Filip, since Belgium is the size of a decent stamp.
But Belgium has got a nice central position in Europe, crushed between The Netherlands, Germany, France, and on the other side of the Canal the U.K.
So this is to check how many Bullies are interested in a TD at the end of September, beginning of October 2009 in the university city of Leuven (Louvain, Löwe).
If I can get a nice number of Bullies together, I can start looking for a decent traininghall, convince a very good Bjj purple belt and a Muay Thai Kru to give some lessons at the TD, look for someone to give some Kali-escrima techniques (got someone already in mind, but haven't asked him yet).
Later on the evening, dinner at a very good chinese restaurant that also serves some great sushi (weird, I know). Followed by a night on the town, remember that the nickname of the Louvain's old market is called "the longest bar in Belgium", because it almost only consist out of bars, dance-cafés and pubs with an occasional restaurant. And end september, beginning october the students return...
So who's interested?

**** I cannot make it for in September I am leaving Europe, if only it were in July-August period, it would be great, to spar against you. I had the intention of sparring using fully w. chun techniques.
but seems it was not meant to be.

Aah, what the ****, I'll stretch my schedule.
TD will be in August, September or October, depending what the majority of the Bullies decide.

After ninjers, my new nemesis are chunners? WTF?!...yeah, I'm moving up in the world! In a few years the aikidoka will want to nail my ass to the wall.

Won't be able to make it in August, and probably not September. (Doing my final exam exactly then.)
Oral exams begin in October, but once I got the dates right, I'll do my best to come!

I'm interested, but can't say much more than that until we get closer to the time.
