hit coconut w/ stick
After watching this video I'm ready to try my hand at smashing the **** out of some coconuts, anybody tried this? Is it even that difficult?
Does breaking coconuts with the stick translate to real striking power?
This vid states a coconut is as hard as a skull. Does anyone know if this is really true?
I don't really think breaking demos with the empty hand seem practical for fighting. Mainly because the guys spend all this time gathering their "chi" before doing anything cool. But with the stick maybe it could have some benefit. Still the Master in the demo is in a static stance, if he were moving more (footwork) it would be even more impressive.

It's a waste of coconuts.
Yeah, coconuts just don't "grow on trees" is what my parents used to always say..or something like that.

Definitely lots of fun. Great for the visuals, but there are better ways to develop power, accuracy, etc. in regular training as opposed to killing coconuts.
Dude, you can break the coconuts with open-handed slaps.
I've tried breaking coconuts barehanded and had some real trouble with it. You must be a lot better at breaking stuff than me.

Were you using an open-hand slap?
Hmm, I should get some coconuts and try again with those things in mind.
I've always wanted to do that, just for the fun. And i'm sure failing at the breaking hurts less with the weapon than empty handed.
