TUF 9 Episode 5/27/2009 Thread

The first time I did the Water Torture Cell, live, there was an interesting problem.

In our training sessions, I had NO problem staying under for about 2minutes and 30 seconds before I had any problem at all.

Live, I was in deep crap after 30 seconds!

It took me a long time to learn how to calm myself down in a live setting, I expect it is the same for these fighters.

But am I not correct in that most of these hopefuls (Faulkner, Lawson, etc...) already have a pretty solid pro record? It isn't like these guys are stepping into the ring for the first time here.

Faulkner is 2-1 coming into this. Most of the guys usually have a handful of fights.

None of which were on national TV, competing for a UFC contract. I think this is the most pressure any of these guys have ever been under.

Yeah, what can you do. You can't blame the guy. He earned a spot on that team just as much as everyone else. Then he got in the mix and realized it wasn't for him. He had balls to say what he felt and not care about what everyone else thinks. So he's not an MMA fighter. That doesn't mean he lacks in skill. Or ability. Just that it isn't his thing.

Props to the toothless wonder! He's a bad ass and a warrior. He belongs there. Good for him.

Frank Lester is not particularly skilled but if you get your teeth knocked out and KOed and then come back a week later when you've barely even been able to train in the meantime and keep coming forward so relentlessly that the dude who is clearly better than you quits on his stool, you should get the $5000 finishing bonus to buy a wheelbarrow to carry around your gigantic balls

Bisping made a comment during the prelim's about Faulker saying that he's extremely talented in training but is yet to show it, in an actual fight.
I have no doubt Faulkner is a more talented fighter than Lester but the toothless bastard had far more heart when it actually counted.

Four fighters each into the Semi's seems almost too predictable.
