Most UFC fighters make their money from endorcements, and not fights. Endorcements is the key to the real money. Unless your fighting in Pride, which pays much more.

most boxers make shitty money, like $50-100 a round. the top ones make tens of millions a fight.

The K-1 purse is like $400K USD for the grand prix champion. Marc Coleman was selling bananas in Japan and got paid for that. Sapp endorses everything there. Go to Japan if you want some real money.Punches in bunches and kicks kicks kicks!

Pride fighters do really well, Pride is a huge sport in japan.
I saw an MSNBC documentary on UFC and they claim that a top fighter will only make about 5k a fight.

Basically you've got a shared purse. For example B shows like WEC and KOTC will offer $10,000 for a main event fight. The fighters will then split that according to they win or lose. For example $3000 for the loser and $7000 for the winner.
$5000 is the first break down for Mid level UFC
$15,000 for main event draw
$150,000 for main event draw title shots.
Those are general numbers so take them as they are. Some people will address promoters with huge win pay off. Meaning they'll take $1000 if they lose and $8000 if they win (if you use the above example). In the shows that I was in you could talk to the other fighter and even negotiate a winner take all purse.

I think it's a bit higher. In a recent UFC the purses were made public.
In rivera-Lousseau they split I think 6 grand. But Uno made 17500 to lose to Hermes Franca who made around 10 grand for the win.Tito and Couture each made around 90 grand.Tim Sylvia got 30 grand and Gan McGee got I think 10 grand.
What alot of people don;t understand is that club boxers don;t make anymore than Club MMA fighters.I know good pro boxers who will fight for less than 1000.Of course not contenders.
Just because heavyweight contenders and lighter weight champions make SO much money in boxing people assume that it filters down to the local scene. And they're wrong.
In fact considering how many take up boxing and how FEW make any money at at, I'm not sure that in general pro boxers out earn pro MMA fighters.I mean if you lop off the top 10% EARNERS IN BOTH SPORTS and measure the earnings of the remainder it's probably similar.

Man...that really sucks for everyone except Tito, Couture and Silvia. I'm sure Pride FC pays more than $2K for their average fight. And this is without health coverage right? You're fucked if you got $2k in your pocket but need to go see a doc.Punches in bunches and kicks kicks kicks!
