It's an interesting point, but I think the person who got out of it gets not losing right then and there for escaping the powerful attack. Much in the same way when somebody recovers from a few big strikes, they don't get rewarded points for their conditioning or chin. They don't do they? I hope not anyway.

In some combat sports there are points for escapes.
For more weirdness....
I remember having a very long debate at an Ohio Jujitsu event years ago over that.
If you took a head and arm (kesa gatame) you got NO points for it.
However, if you put it on, and the guy escaped, he got points for escaping.
I asked what he was getting points for? They said escaping the hold. I asked "How can it be a hold, if the guy got no points for putting it on?" They actually said, "Well its a hold, but we don't give points for it, only getting out of it."
It went like that for about 30 minutes with the BJJ/GJJ nut jobs all saying how crazy I was. Needless to say, the event was an interesting one, and I never returned. -
