Here's video of my instructor fighting at a Dog Brother's event.

YouTube - Grandmaster Max Pallens Full Contact Fighting

It's interesting to note that he was in the area visiting his son and heard the event was going on, decided to go watch, and was challenged by the 2 guys he fought. Both men were in thier 30s so around half his age.

That.......looks exactly like what I'd think sparring for your style would. What with how he kind of "pillows" the incoming strikes.

Still got the heart of a young man. Very few of his age particularly GMs who will do what he did. Deserves great respect.

Exactly, we use the term "Cushioning" but you picked up on it right away. GM's amazingly good at "hiding" behind his stick and picking his openings.

One of the reasons I train with him is because he's not afraid to put his style to the test himself. He's not just passing on things someone told him will work, he's actually used them with success. He's also a phenomenal person.

I've seen that one before great vid. I did notice that they modified the rules somewhat for the match ex. no grappling or thrusting. I don't know if the Dog Bros. normally modify the rules or if it was just an exception for the GM. Either way for 61 that was great I hope to be doing the same thing at that age.

    nice video ,
and he is willing to use the "pillow" without a glove. Just holding his w.hand out like that in front of his body as a possible target.

I think you can adjust the rules as long as the other one agrees ,ie no ground fighting ect.but Ive never been to a gathering so ...

I think there should be a new thread something like ""GMs" with recent fights"
The thing is, the video in this thread is the only one I know about.

He kept losing his stick because of the glove and was really worried about his stick hand being hit, so rather than have to dive after the stick again he took the glove off. This video is a few years old, but I wouldn't doubt his ability or willingness to step in there again.

    Really cool Dresden, welcome aboard.

Some new Video of Rene Latosa came up on Youtube and it is somewhat like what is on his DVD's. He has new rubber training tool and he is going over the concepts around how he trains. I do wish people would not put credits and titles for the first minute of their videos though!!

Three part series of the seminar, very long, with alot of talking and German translations, but shows what kind of material Rene covers in his DVD's (well, the DVD's are other stuff and with more, but you can get the idea)
