Samart Payakaroon, greatest standup fighter of all time

For those unfamiliar, Payakaroon held Lumpinee titles in four different weight classes and was WBC Super Bantamweight Champion from 18 Jan 1986 8 May 1987. Although he couldn't handle Dieselnoi (no one could) he is widely considered one of the best (if not the best) of the modern era. Amazing guy.

    Nice Video, Great fighter.

For the greatest standup fighter of all time i think it's pretty hard to look past Western Boxing. Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest in my humble opinion.

For boxing, I actually agree with that choice. I say Samart was the greatest across all standup styles because he held world titles in both of the two dominant sports, not just one. Same reason I don't pick Dieselnoi: great in MT only.

The grappling equivalent would be someone dominating both Judo (or SAMBO) and BJJ at the world championship level.

edit: actually, dominating wrestling and BJJ would be slightly more impressive to me.

He actually lost that fight against Wangjannoi in the highlight video as I recall, it was a good fight though. Samart was da bomb, for sure, definitely one of the most entertaining muaythai fighters in addition to being one of the best. Can't really hold anything against Samart for not being able to take out Dieselnoi since there was a like a foot of reach advantage to fight against :5zombie:

On second thought, it should be in the highlight video section Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Kickboxing, and Grappling Highlight Videos - No BS Martial Arts
