    Is it just me, or does the breaking in the 2nd video look fishy? For example, the last break, on a roundhouse kick broke vertically rather than horizontally.

    It looked like Shotokan. I liked Oyama's movement. The guy was smooth. My KK Sensei said that once in HNL Oyama was sparring Shihan Lowe's top bb and repeatedly grabbed his lead arm and popped him a punch. The guy knew it was coming, but Oyama was too fast to stop and kept doing it.

    Genuine question. Most roundhouse kick breaks I've seen go horizontal, and some of the breaking looked a bit weird. Could have been due to the video quality, I guess.

    Right, sorry, I think I'm with you now. Are you referring to the way in which the board actually broke? I thought you meant the way it was held which was why I was confused. :)
    Boards have a tendency to break along their grain so chances are that's what you're seeing here.
