Timekeeper f*ckup - what are the usual consequences?

    Here's my little problem:

two weeks ago, I had a grappling match at a local MMA event (the organizer wanted to demonstrate the grappling aspect to an audience that has very little experience with MMA).

I was in control for most of the fight, came close with a couple submission attempts, and the fight ended after six minutes with me in the mount and leading 6:4.

Problem is, the fight was scheduled for seven minutes, not six. The opponent's cornerman complained immediately and was told by the timekeeper that no, it had indeed been seven minutes. Which is easy to disprove with the video that came out a few days later, so he registered a complaint - rightfully, of course, regardless of how the match went down. If it's scheduled for seven minutes, it must last seven.

I'm sure this sort of thing has happened before. What are the usual consequences? Change to No Contest? Rematch? Start again, with one minute to go, me in the mount and him two points down :-P ?

grappling matches are a big deal in germany?

    Really? some people...

My opinion? Rule it a no contest
If I was in your position though... I would've just told him he could claim it as a win and I would take the loss, because I really don't fucking care what my grappling match record is.

Was there some kind of prize money involved?

This does seem an awful lot of butthurt over small enough detail.

ah yea, I didn't even think about that. If there's money involved then I understand why this is being debated.
Grappling match just screams "amature ****" in my mind. I mean... at a certain level, if you can't grapple while punches are being thrown, then what kind of lame ass grappling are you training?
Again, all is forgiven if there's some money or hot chicks involved in this crazy grappling match timekeeper scandal, but until then... :nobodycar

Yes, in a way it's amateur **** (no prize money is involved, and even if the decision is overturned, the guy won't get to hug the ring girls). And if it had happened at some local BJJ tournament, no one would have cared. But if the guy drives 400 miles to step into a cage in front of a couple hundred spectators (including a significant percentage of the South German BJJ and MMA coaches), it gains a little more significance.

Not too much though, so I expect it will be changed to No Contest, few people will hear of it, and even fewer will care...

Perhaps you could have a gentleman's rematch at one of your dojos?

The timekeeper should have to finish the last minute of the match for him.

The timekeeper should get kicked in the nuts for screwing up a simple yet essential task. After that gets done, the ordeal should be forgotten about by both parties and then we all move on.

I remember they screwed up the time on TUF once. I know mistakes happen, but someone really needs to get kicked in the nuts when they do.
