Oh, right. I have some stories about that, actually. There's an entire section of a Gay dating website devoted to DLI. A friend of mine found it once and showed it to me. The number of people I knew based on a cursory glance was pretty amusing.

At least two people in my squad at DLI were gay. One found out he had AIDS and went AWOL, the other got kicked out for being a piece of ****. He's actually at Ft. Bragg now, dating my college buddy's roommate.

    hhhmmm...

It would still be cool to be paid to learn a language. I am guessing that Farsi, Arabic, Pashtun, Urdu, and all of those things are whats commonly assigned?

Whats my chances of getting say Korean or Mandarin Chinese?
Tagalog is a common one to get. Thai is very uncommon. Russian, Arabic, Farsi, Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, and Chinese were the big ones when I was there.

If you have a choice, go for Farsi or Tagalog just based on general female hottness.

The Farsi teachers are hotter than the tagalog teachers. Also, there's a large Persian community in California, so you will have lots of chances to get shot down by Persian girls that are way out of your league.

**** I could get paid to learn Tagalog and say I am in military intelligence?

I would do that in a fucking heart beat.

I am looking to attract the local Filipinas out in Cali.

You guys are really making me think so thanks.

Again, you get no choice as to which language you learn.

You're welcome to answer any further queries. I'll be pretty busy for the next few months.

Actually they do lie. a lot. So yeah, talk to as many active and former military as you can before signing up. I probably would have picked a different branch had i talked to more people before signing up.
