I'm not going to comment on the video, although I am pretty sure I am qualified to do so, but instead this:

I am not going to criticise or belittle your brown belt student, on the basis that he is doing this because you taught it, unless you want to tell me you didnt and he brought this in.
And i also understand that bullshido members generally don't care about sword arts.
However, this is all kinds of wrong, and if he is doing this because you taught him, then it's blatantly obvious that you have never had one lesson under a legitimate teacher of JSA either gendai or koryu, and you shouldnt be doing it.
If he brought it in himself, thats a different story, but if this is based on your instruction, and he is genuinely interested in JSA, you are wasting his time. -

Well, then use a bat, a bat attack is realistic, and no one will care about anything.
But thats a bokuto.
JSA cuts vary between schools, this is true, but, but mostly, with few exceptions, the cut is fully completed in terms of waving the arms, at around 90 degrees to the body the sword is out, straight, and full energy is imparted, and you just use the momentum from there on in. The blade is almost parallel with the arms, and apart from steering and braking from the left arm the cut is over, apart from it hitting the opponent of course.
I had a look on pootube, but there was a lot of rubbish.... -

I'm wondering if Mr. DeRenzo read my much earlier post about the purpose of videos. Mr. DeRenzo, why did you post the video and/or what is YOUR purpose for posting the video? Your answer - or lack thereof - will be significant, and should lay the video-thing to rest.
