    Creatine info

Interesting article over at TNation on Creatine: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_...up_on_creatine

I find the info on the loading and amount taken quite interesting, as as far as I've seen everywhere else a recommended daily dose is upwards of 10g.

Interesting article. The "don't use it pre-workout" thing surprised me. I'm curious about the citrate/pyruvate thing as well... wonder what kind of improvements they're talking about?

yeh the dont us it pre work out was quite interesting. I found I think the recearch paper they were talking about with pyruvate and was an interesting read. Unfortunately they did not baseline it against people taking just creatine, but against a group taking a placebo. Even saying that though I personally wouldnt mind giving pyruvate, but no one seems to sell it anyway!

Hm. TrueProtein got my hopes up there, but they sell calcium pyruvate, not creatine pyruvate. I suppose you could always just mix the two.

I've been taking the Creatine Pyruvate for close to a month. I havnt really noticed any changes in weight .. I'm still pretty static at this point with that(6'0" and hanging between 165 and 170 lbs.) BUT.. I noticed that about 2 weeks after starting it, I was able to increase my resistence while running by at least +1 each day for about a 4 day interval.. That increase in endurance, I think, is probably where the added 'visible' weight loss comes from for an average person with an average diet.

Two weeks ago, I was running at about 5.5 flatout for about 4k.. and then gradually increasing to 7 at 10 minute intervals for another 20-30 minutes.. Now, I am able to run at 7 for almost 5k with no need to decrease at intervals.. I havn't tried it out yet, but I feel confident that I could probably run for far longer at that rate now..

You can mix the two from what I know.. In fact, when I went looking for it to begin with, I had some trouble finding it because I got confused about the difference between the actual "Creatine Pyruvate" and the Creatine mono/Pyruvate supplements. I found quite a few that were labelled more as a mix of the two, among other supplements.. I finally just searched on Google and found the actual Creatine Pyruvate..

From what I discern, the main difference is in the bonding of the molecules.. The Creatine Pyruvate is the actual molecule bond.. I.E. Pyruvic Acid and Creatine Mono, where the products such as NOW's Pyruva-Creatine are mixtures of different Pyruvate bonds, like Calcium Pyruvate, with Creatine Mono.

I would recommend it as a supplement for anyone that is doing high endurance training, running, floor exercises, or stop/start workouts, as the stuff has given me tangible results.

Thanks to the OP for this thread. I read the article and it answered some questions I had regarding 'loading'..

One thing that I noticed though was that the article did not mention anything about taking Alpha-Lipoic Acid to enhance Creatine Uptake. I am not very versed in the usage of Creatine, but that is something that I always heard from Body Builders when I asked about Creatine Loading and the like.. I always seem to get mixed opinions on that.

    Good Post!
