I think it makes complete sense for dana white to not let a fight happen in the UFC for exactly this reason.

What I don't get is why he doesn't let them have a boxing match.

If silva wins, then UFC gets the added credibility of an MMA fighter beating a boxing in boxing. (in spite of his much smaller focus).

If Silva loses, they can just say "He would have beaten him in an MMA match, he trains for MMA after all".

What does he have to lose?

    Which rules??

I see two totally different outcomes depending on the rules. In an MMA fight or even a stand up with leg kicks, Silva wins easily unless he gets caught. If it's by modern boxing rules, jones would white wash him. Even faded, Jones is much faster and a better pure boxer. I see why White wouldn't want his marquee guys losing to a boxer, it hurts the brand that is MMA as a whole. It's still eveolving as a sport and it took 15 years to get out from under the shadow of boxing. I would love to see it, but I don't see how it's feasible. Just my two cents.

Perhaps at Wrestlemania, nobody would take it so serious, and everyone could call a fix, so the question is answered, but not clearly enough for there to be an real answer?

Outcome depends on the glove size.

NICK DIAS!!! Has stepped up and looks to be fighting RJJ in Strikeforce.

    Source: www.graciefighter.com

" After reports surfaced that Dana White had nixed the idea of a fight between Roy Jones Jr and Anderson Silva occuring in the UFC, Strikeforce founder, Scott Coker, agreed to make the fight happen in Strikeforce. Nick Diaz would be fighting Roy Jones Jr.under MMA rules.

"We would absolutely set this fight up. Of course we would have to run it by Showtime for final approval, but I don't see why we wouldn't have this fight" -Scott Coker

It now seems that the only hope of seeing one of the legends of boxing stepping into a cage will be through Strikeforce."

I know a few guys here are saying that Dana White needs to grow some balls...but didn't Floyd Mayweather at the height of his boxing career call out UFC, White offered his lightweight champion to fight him, then Mayweather backed off?

My guess is that Roy didn't want to sign a multi-fight contract and work his way up (and sign over rights to his image and all the other legal **** that comes with being a UFC fighter). You gotta dance Dana's dance if you wanna play in the big show. I doubt Roy was willing to do that. I doubt Dana would say "no" if he would.
