if all you see is a style fighting another than you might as well be blind. the actual fight is only a small fraction of whats really going on. theres the training they go through the hours upon hours of preparation not to mention the pressure of not loosing. the style does very little its the training that does most of the work.

theres videos of karate guys loosing to thai boxers and thai boxers loosing to karate it really doesnt matter what style you practice as long as you train right.

you just want us to say muay boran so you have something to masturbate with

Do you live in Chiang Mai? I ask because one of the only muay boran schools in Thailand is here. They also teach krabi krabong and some style of Chinese MA. As for your original question, I also agree it is the fighter more than the style which would determine the outcome. Both karate and muay thai, or muay boran which simply means anciebt fighting, are effective. However, good karate schools are all over, and it is very difficult to find an actual authentic muay boran school, as it is basically an extinct MA, even in Thailand. In fact, there actually is no one style called muay boran. This is a modern invention based on numerous ancient Thai fighting arts.

Actually I was trying to not offend karate people, but in fact I agree. At least from what I have seen, many US karate schools are of low quality, in my opinion. But I am sure there are some fine ones also.

no problem were all pretty honest here when it comes to effectiveness in the martial arts, karate has some hurdles to get over but Im hopeful for the future.

Muay chaiya would be enough to kick karate's ass in terms of defence and offence techneques, Muay chaiya has almost invincible defence while destroying your opponent. don't know much about karate but it was invented for selfdefence, totally opposit of muay chaiya.
But also depend on the person and training.

Muay Chaiya has an invincible defence? What is Muay Chaiya, is that a form of Muay Thai? What is it that makes the defence so good?
