Can't we all just agree that any society, or set of laws that is based on religion (or more specifically the Abrahamic religions) is just fucking retarded?

As a secular country who was in no way founded based on a religious belief (that's what George Washington said), we should cut economic and diplomatic ties to any ass-backward country who wants to base their society and laws off of ancient mythology.

There...I said it. Countries need to pull their heads out of the stone ages. We've got scientific explanations for things like eclipses now and don't need mythological stories to describle normal acts of nature and the universe (yes...that's how religion started).

I'm not against a belief in God...but religion as a whole is fucking useless and does nothing more than cause problems.

yes, religion is retarded.

that doesn't change the fact that there are a few billion people out there who follow some kind of religion, and a large number of them are willing to die for it. they also make many important decisions based on their faith, for better or worse.

really, it's just not practical to tell people "religion is stupid, so don't believe in it". religion is something you have to work with, and work around. even manipulate if you can.

besides, i doubt there would be any less suffering in the world if religion could be eradicated altogether. the fact is, many humans are just selfish arseholes who would happily kill other humans to get their way. if it weren't for the fear of being punished by the law, we'd be seeing a hell of a lot more dickshittery going on in the west.
