    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Cross training in Savate/Boxing?

    I only have 3-4 months of experience in Savate and I was thinking of taking boxing with it.... example: 1 week of boxing then next week is 1 week of Savate. I'm really enjoying both but I'm wondering if this is a smart idea. ( I was planning on doing a couple of golden gloves)
    But I cant really choose.... I have t3h Greco on saturdays. Any one have any similar experiences or have any ideas of how this can affect me? (maybe even 2 weeks of boxing and then 2 weeks of Savate)
    later on I'm planning on going to the ufc but I want to make sure I'm not doing alot at once, I can handle it though but is it a smar
    idea for some one only 3-4 months of savate experience?:bully:

    I accidently said Savate....what I meant was Sanshou,
    Is it a good idea for me to cross train Sanshou and boxing?
    just replace every "Savate" you see with "Sanshou" in the op.

    WTF? It says "SAVATE" right in your style field. If you are going to train San Shou you had better, at the very least, remember what the frickin style is called.

    Yes, training boxing will help your San Shou game, but getting hit in the head some more will likely make your other problems worse.

    Explain all of your training (ever) in bullet-point form, style by style. For example:

    - 9 years Isshinryu; nidan, instructor
    - 7 months Kodokan Judo, gokyu
    - 1 month Tang Soo Do as a child, kicked out due to frequent ruckus creation

    I say that you pick one and stick with it. 1 week on, 1 week off? Pshaw. Either cross-train each week (Monday judo, Tuesday off, Wednesday karate...) or pick one (Monday boxing, Tuesday boxing, Wednesday off...).

    If you want to list your goals then do that too. Ie, "compete in MMA" or "compete in golden gloves" or "improve my striking." Include time frames as far as is possible. Remember that they may be mutually exclusive.

    PS. This is NOT an advanced striking discussion. Gitmo, YMAS, and Newbietown would all have been better choices.

    If you are doing Savate at all, then you are getting trained in boxing already. Are you asking if you should add boxing to SS now that you have stopped training Savate? That would at least make sense.

    Hint: if you are training San Shou, put that in your style field. If you have stopped training Savate, take it out.

    maybe something like....
    monday: Sanshou
    tuesday: off
    wendsday:Sanshou
    thursday: boxing
    friday:boxing
    saturday:t3h Greco
    sunday:off
    next week is repeat....
    and summer is almost up wich means I will have alot more time to train and more time to do body conditioning ftw

    that sound good?

    I just really hope I'm doing the right thing and wont do much at once slowing my MA progress down...

    Savate: 1 year (stopped t3h savate)
    Sanshou: 3-4 months
    T3h greco: 5 months
