I did a lot of armored dagger work about twelve years ago.

We didn't have access to many treatises back then; I had a photocopy of the FDB, Talhoffer (can't remember which fechtbuch) and maybe one other. I liked armored dagger fighting very much; the techniques were pretty straightforward, so we spent quite a lot of time figuring out counters, etc. that were implicit rather than being specifically illustrated. Lots of sparring.

Yes that must have been hard to figure it out. Most of mister T and FDL are stunning one liners “explaining” the picture. Kudos to you.
I think you are right about the implied counters.
From what I understood there is a sort of blot on approach with in other weapons/wrestling.
So with armoured dagger, you can branch easily to spear/half-swording and their associated wrestling and uses the techniques with a dagger.

Actually, we didn't even have a translation of the dei Liberi material; we just worked from the pictures.
The dagger work is a fine bride between unarmed combat, halfswording etc. but fundamentally it's all about good tactical movement.Check out the Bullshido.net Western Martial Arts Forum for all things Western, martial and arty.

My buddy informed me that the books I ordered have arrived today! I'll be getting them tonight. I'll be sure to let you know about them.
Specifically, I ordered the following:
"Manual Of The Baratero: The Art of Handling the Navaja, the Knife, and the Scissors of the Gypsies"
James Loriega;"Knife Fighting: A Practical Course"
Michael Janich;
