So basically as I posted before I've been training jiujitsu lately and it's coming back surprisingly fast. It's kind of funny how much better one can grapple when one does it regularly rather then every year or two at a throwdown.

Anyways, the gym I picked up has already set me another MMA fight in motion somewhere in Georgia on May 16th. The girl is 1-0, the weight is 145 and my understanding is that she favors herself a striker. I'm perturbed to be fighting under georgias retarded amateur MMA rules especially since my first fight ever was under full UFC rules...but hey...whatever. The new gym is confident enough in my abilities that they set this up within like 3 weeks of me joining up with them so that's pretty cool.

They were fine before, then the state athletic commission made them retarded. If I have my way then it wont matter all that much. The most annoying one is no punches to the head when on the ground. Oh, no knees to the face sucks,too. The 7oz gloves are a bummer as well.

Oh well. It should be fun anyways.

Let me know if you decide to branch out to states that don't have stupid rules. There's a good number of female fighters out here for you to run through.

Some of them actually have some skills too.

Are they making you wear shin guards too?

Yeh, that's the plan. I actually was going to wait a while to do MMA again but this was thrown on my plate unexpectedly and I suck at saying no to fights.

Actually...yes they are....and I'm not sure but at one point it was no kicks the head of a standing opponent but I'm not seeing that under "illegal techniques" anymore, on the flip side I'm not seeing it under "legal techniques" either so I am not sure where it stands.

The rules are extremely lame. If the new gym wasn't pushing me to do it I would never seek to fight under ga amateur rules.

Is the no punches to the head on the ground or no knees to the face it?

Sounds like a boxing match with rules allowing for fighters to lay down for a nice break every so often.

85-2-.05 RULES
(1) LEGAL TECHNIQUES WHILE STANDING:
(a) Closed hand strikes to head and body;
(b) Kicking to body;
(c) Knees to body and legs;
(d) Throws/Take downs/Sweeps;
(e) Standing Submissions;
(f) Chokes;
(g) Armbars;
(h) Shouldering.
(2) LEGAL TECHNIQUES WHILE ON THE GROUND:
(a) Closed hand strikes to body and legs;
(b) Submissions (chokes, armbars, straight leg locks ONLY).
(3) ILLEGAL TECHNIQUES WHILE STANDING:
(a) Elbows;
(b) Knees to head;
(c) Reserved;
(d) Kicks to knees;
(e) Stomps on feet;
(f) Groin strikes;
(g) Hitting back of head;
(h) Spine strikes;
(i) Slamming;
(j) Throws onto head or neck;
(k) Throws against a joint;
(l) Throwing out of competition area;
(m) Neck cranks;
(n) Holding ropes;
(o) Pinching, biting, gouging, and any "dirty fighting".
(4) ILLEGAL TECHNIQUES WHILE ON GROUND:
(a) Any striking to head;
(b) Elbows;
(c) Neck cranks;
(d) Heel hooks;
(e) Finger locks;
(f) Toe locks;
(g) Choking with hand on throat;
(h) Smothering (hand over mouth);
(i) Spine locks;
(j) Hammer locks
(k) Fish hooks;
(l) Groin strikes;
(m) Spine strikes;
(n) Slamming;
(o) Throwing out of competition area;
(p) Pinching, biting, gouging, and any "dirty fighting".
(5) ADDITIONAL ITEMS:
(a) If punch or kick causes a knockdown, the action will NOT continue.
The standing fighter will not continue to attack. Instead, the referee
will begin a 10 count. The standing fighter must go to a neutral corner
during the count;
(b) No Vaseline on the body;
(c) No shoes;
(d) No shirts for male contestants;
(e) No metal zippers on shorts.

good luck! from what i've seen of your fights you won't need it though :)

those are some pretty lame rules. but it's better then what we have here in ontario, which is NO MMA AT ALL!
